The Bristol Life Saving crew is an emergency medical services organization founded in 1947 located in Bristol, Virginia, making it one of the oldest EMS agencies in the nation. The organization is run by all volunteers, however the roster is supplemented by paid personnel when volunteers are not available to staff the trucks.

The crew staffs two advanced life support ambulances out of two stations twenty-four hours to serve its first due area of the city of Bristol, VA. The crew also offers advanced life support intercepts to its surrounding agencies as well as a special response team available twenty-four hours a day that is trained and equipped to handle most technical rescue operations it is requested for. Staffed ambulances are also placed on standby at many local events, including football games and races at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Lastly, the crew offers use of its upstairs banquet room to the public for a nominal fee. If you would like an ambulance to standby at your event or would like to make use of our facilities please contact us.

The crew strives to provide a very high standard of care and education throughout southwestern Virginia and northeastern Tennessee. It has long cooperated with local paramedic programs so that students can ride along with our providers to gain valuable clinical experience. Additionally, the crew has a progressive set of medical protocols. Our ambulances are equipped with cutting edge medical technology including twelve lead EKG telemetry, adult intraosseous access, CPAP, and waveform capnography. In addition to the standard repertoire of ACLS drugs, our providers are also able to give steroids, anti-emetics as well RSI drugs.

Membership into the organization not only provides the opportunity to serve the community and aid people in their time of need, but also access to a powerful incentive program. Full members may earn thousands of dollars per year in return for a few duty nights a month. No experience is necessary and all training is provided through the crew. Become a volunteer today and help of keep this an all volunteer organization! More information regarding membership may be found in the links to the left, as well as in the file library.
