2006 GMC 3500
Unit 40 is a 2001 GMC 3500 4-wheel drive type I ALS equipped ambulance with a custom 144" ambulance box by MedTec. This unit features a custom emergency light package as well as a dual tone siren. Unit 40 is the unit of choice for most of our members because it allows for plenty of room for patient care while offering as comfortable ride as possible. Unit 40 was designed by a committee of crew members with the unit and all of its features built to our specifications. Before this unit was put into service, it was displayed by the manufacturer and many of our ideas have since appeared on units for other agencies. As with all BLSC ambulances, Unit 40 is equipped with UHF, VHF, and 800mhz radios for communication with dispatch centers, other BLSC Units, Hospitals, and surrounding agencies as well as having the capability to send patient information such as field-acquired 12-lead EKGs over the radio to be reviewed by a physician at the receiving hospital.

1995 International 4700
Unit 41 is a 1995 International 2-wheel drive type I ALS equipped ambulance. The truck has an air-ride suspension for patient and crew comfort that provides the capability to raise and lower the back end for ease of loading and unloading patients. Unit 41 is also equipped with automatic tire chains for safer operation in inclement weather. As with all BLSC ambulances, Unit 41 is equipped with UHF, VHF, and 800mhz radios for communication with dispatch centers, other BLSC Units, Hospitals, and surrounding agencies as well as having the capability to send patient information such as field-acquired 12-lead EKGs over the radio to be reviewed by a physician at the receiving hospital.

Unit 42 is a 2005 GMC 4500 4-wheel drive type I ALS equipped ambulance. For this reason, unit 42 is primarily used as a back-up truck and often runs from Bristol Virginia Fire Station 3 as BLSC Rescue 3.

2008 Chevrolet 4500
Our newest addition to the fleet, Unit 43 is a 2008 Chevrolet 2-wheel drive Type 1 ALS equipped ambulance. Unit 43 was built by MedTec as a Demo truck and boasts most of the features available from Med-Tec. 43 also boasts the largest patient compartment in our fleet with plenty of room for crew personnel and current and future equipment. It features an LED emergency lighting package as well as an electronic siren and powerful air horns. In compliance with Tennessee State ambulance regulations, 43 is striped in Omaha orange with blue reflective lettering. Currently, unit 43 is primarily housed at Bristol Virginia Fire Station and runs as BLSC Rescue 3. As with all BLSC ambulances, Unit 43 is equipped with UHF, VHF, and 800mhz radios for communication with dispatch centers, other BLSC Units, Hospitals, and surrounding agencies as well as having the capability to send patient information such as field-acquired 12-lead EKGs over the radio to be reviewed by a physician at the receiving hospital.

Unit 44 is a 2001 GMC 3500 4-wheel drive type I ALS equipped ambulance with a Trauma Hawk custom box by AEV. It is outfitted with strobe emergency lighting as well as an electronic siren with integrated PA.Unit 44 is the unit most commonly utilized to respond as a medical support unit for our Special Response Team as its smaller size and 4x4 capabilities allow for easier access to hard to access emergency scenes. 44 is also equipped with a towing package and can pull most of the BLSC special response trailers. As with all BLSC ambulances, Unit 44 is equipped with UHF, VHF, and 800mhz radios for communication with dispatch centers, other BLSC Units, Hospitals, and surrounding agencies as well as having the capability to send patient information such as field-acquired 12-lead EKGs over the radio to be reviewed by a physician at the receiving hospital.

1994 Chevrolet 3500 4-wheel drive
Unit 45 is a 1994 Chevrolet 3500 4-wheel drive light duty rescue truck by SWAB. It is equipped with all the necessary equipment to provide basic vehicle rescue and extrication as well as forcible entry into a residence. Unit 45 is very versatile due to its small size and plethora of equipment. It has been used at the Bristol Motor Speedway for infield rescue stand-by for several major events. Unit 45 is also equipped with patient care supplies and can function in the role of a quick response vehicle if needed. The unit is also equipped with a towing package and can pull most of the crew's special response trailers. 45 is the only remaining BLSC vehicle that is powered by a gasoline engine.

1984 Mack 2-wheel drive heavy rescue
Unit 46 is a 1984 Mack 2-wheel drive heavy rescue truck. This is the most versatile unit at the BLSC. Functions served by this unit include, light and heavy duty vehicle rescue, heavy and tactical rescue (structural collapse, etc.), rope rescue, mobile command post, mobile scene lighting, fire department support for rehab and mobile cascade, as well as a mini MCI response unit and ALS Enhanced medical equipment including mass oxygen delivery. Unit 46 is also equipped with automatic tire chains for safer operation in inclement weather. Operators of unit 46 must be certified at the Class III level in EVOC and must complete an in depth training program on the truck's operation. Members who choose to undertake the task of becoming operators of unit 46 must complete a rigorous test on equipment location and operation as well as vehicle operation before being checked off on this unit. BLSC's heavy rescue team frequently travel with unit 46 to Virginia Beach the annual VAVRS conventions. The truck consistently receives perfect scores upon inspection at the heavy truck competition. 2005 Haulmark 26' Regional Disaster Response (MCI) Trailer
Unit 49 is a 2005 Haulmark 26' cargo trailer that has been modified to serve as a regional disaster response unit. This unit is equipped with triage tents, heaters, generators, and medical equipment to treat up to 50 patients. It is also capable of serving as a mobile command post for extended operations. This unit is available for mass casualties in all the surrounding area.

2006 GMC 2500HD 4 wheel drive pick-up/utility truck
Unit 51 is a 2006 GMC 2500HD 4 wheel drive pick-up/utility truck. It is certified at the ALS Paramedic level in Virginia and is the primary vehicle utilized by the crew's Special Response Team. Unit 51 has a camper top style bed cover with lighted side compartments and a slide out bed tray which holds all the necessary equipment for basic vehicle extrication. Unit 51 has a state of the art LED lighting package as well as a powerful Whelen dual tone siren. Rescue 51 is also equipped with a 12,000 pound front mounted winch and a heavy duty towing package and is the primary unit used to pull all of the BLSC special response trailers. Its small size makes it extremely useful in gaining access to off road patients and for getting rescuers to the scene of such calls as water and rope rescues which are typically a good distance from a paved road. Unit 51 is sometimes used as an ALS intercept vehicle for calls to help surrounding agencies who call us for help. This unit is also used by BLSC members for out of town travel to training classes and meetings.

1999 Kawasaki Mule
Unit 52 is a 1999 Kawasaki Mule that has been outfitted as an off-road patient evacuation unit. Unit 52 is equipped with ALS medical equipment, strobe lights, a siren, and a P.A. system. It is used as an off-road response vehicle by the BLSC Special Response Team as well as by the crew for special events such as down town race night and the Rhythm and Roots Festival as well as all Virginia High School home football games. Unit 52 is the primary infield medical cart for all major events at Bristol Motor Speedway. Unit 52 is hauled on a 2005 model cargo trailer made by Taylor's Custom Trailers.

2008 Polaris Ranger 6x6
53 is the crew's newest ATV vehicle. It is used in conjunction with 52 to mitigate off road rescues as well as to provide medical services and transport during mass gatherings. It was donated by US Smokeless Tobacco as part of its Operation Ranger program.

| Boats |
1973 Boats
The crew currently maintains two flat-bottom alluminum boats used primarily for water and surrounding land search and rescue as well as body recoveries at drowning scenes. They are powered by Honda four stroke engines and contain all necessary equipment to drag a body of water. The boats are the oldest equipment continually used by the crew, dating back to the 1970's, close to when the crew was created and are towed on a homemade double stack trailer built by crew members in the 1970's.
