 Special Response Team
 Print this page

For decades our surrounding agencies have depended on the crew to mitigate technical operations requiring special training and equipment, however these responses were largely unstructured and were handled to by whoever was available for the call. Established in 2005, the Bristol Life Saving Crew's Special Response Team serves primarily to provide personnel trained and ready to respond to the incidents the crew is typically not requested for during its day to day activities, as well as incidents placing an unusually high call volume on the crew (e.g. floods and other disasters) in a structured and organized fashion. The team is trained and equipped for high and low angle rope rescues, swift and standing water rescues, vehicle rescue, building collapse, trench and confined space rescue, as well as rural and urban search and rescues and mass casualty incidents. The team is independent from the fire service and other teams in the area making it highly autonomous in its activation, organization and structure. The team is comprised of well over a dozen members from a variety of backgrounds with cross training in rescue, EMS, fire and law enforcement operations. Monthly training drills serve to orient new members as well as train and apprise current members of the latest in rescue techniques.

Rest assured that the resources needed to protect and serve your family are available 24/7/365 from the crew. Requests for SRT responses may be made through your dispatch center or by calling the duty crew.
